This year’s School League once again threw up lots of great games and lots of great football. The format changed slightly due to the large numbers in 4th, 5th and 6th class. Instead of the traditional 6 teams, we had 2 groups of 4 teams.
Robbie Harnett and Fintán Martin managed to make their way through the group stages and semi finals to make this year’s final.

Here they are with Mr O’Súilleabháin and Kerry player, Gavin White who is also a past student of the Mon. The traditional coin toss decides what strip they get to wear for the game.

Fintán’s team managed to get in to the game quickest and soon built a sizeable lead meaning it was all to do for Robbie’s team in the second half.

Mr O’Riordan doing likewise with Robbie’s team
Unfortunately for Robbie it wasn’t enough to get them back into the match despite the valiant efforts of the captain but they gave a great account of themselves.

Fintán and his team emerged victorious and were crowned School League Champs 2018.

Well Done to all the boys who took part in the School League and especially to the captains who showed great example to the younger boys throughout.
Thanks also to Gavin White for taking time out to ref the final and Congrats to him on his superb display in the recent Munster Final vs Cork.
